For years, the executive leather office chair has been depicted as the epitome of class, success, prestige, and wealth. Look at almost any TV show or movie that features an office figure that is looked up to and admired and take a look at what kind of chair they are sitting in. The vast majority of the time the chair they are sitting in is a leather office chair. Even just imagining a leather office chair, the first person that comes to my mind when I think who would be sitting in it would be some high powered executive. Although notoriously reputable and sought after, leather office chairs like any other kind of chair comes with both advantages and disadvantages.
Once you have determined where you will be spending most of your time sitting and ergonomic accessories that may also play a part in the height adjustment of your chair, you will want to locate where the button or lever is on your chair that controls the height. On most chair models, it is generally located on the right hand side of the chair right below the seat. Some higher end chairs may even have pictures on their levers explaining what each lever on the chair does. All chair models will vary, and you will need to take the time to understand what each button does in order to fully adjust your chair to meet your needs.
Schools, churches and other organizations often find that purchasing the chairs that are needed for these special occasions is a more economical choice than renting when needed. If you purchase the items, remember that purchase of the correct storage and moving cart makes it much easier to set up and store the chairs with less damage. Stacking chairs are another popular seating option. However, stacking chairs take more room and are more difficult to transport. If the chairs are always used in the same room and storage is not a problem, they may be a better option. Either type of these portable chairs works well to furnish a multipurpose room. That room is equally at home as an auditorium or a class room. It can serve as an area for a dance or a lecture hall. Storing the chairs makes the room available for standing room only events.
The same chairs soon appeared in colonial America. Like other Queen Anne furniture of the early 1700s, they often had cabriole legs and curving lines distinguishing them from earlier styles.The famous cabinet-makers of the age, like Chippendale in London, designed elegant frames to set off the upholstery. If you want a true antique, remember that ”Queen Anne style” is just that: a style and not a guarantee that a chair is 300 years old. Fabrics used were not necessarily subdued or subtle. Bright patterns were seen in both colonial and Georgian drawing rooms. Restorers of 18th century antiques often prefer plain coloured fabrics, but this is not necessary for authenticity. Leather upholstery is also a valid option.
Another feature that is crucial for a good chair to have is adjustable armrests. Most chairs that have adjustable armrests can easily be lowered or raised by pushing a button in and manually pulling the armrests up or pushing them down. Armrests have to be at the right height for your body, if they are too high it will force you to position your arms awkwardly. If armrests are too long you might find yourself to be slouching or sitting in an awkward position which might start to cause a back ache. While typing, your arms should be able to swing freely. Armrests should be positioned about half an inch below your elbows, with your elbows hanging comfortably at your side. If your arms are resting on the armrest while you are typing, you will be inhibiting the normal arm movement which will cause extra strain on your fingers and their supporting structures.
Painted metal chairs are among the least expensive of these chairs. They make an excellent choice for many institutions. A quick wipe down cleans the chairs for the next event. The chairs offer a long life and require little maintenance. The smaller sized chairs allow maximum seating for the event and are often a good choice for meals or banquets. Chairs with metal frames and plastic backs and seats cost about the same as metal chairs. They are not as durable but are lighter in weight and slightly more comfortable.
